Five CEZ-connected enterprises win Knight Foundation grants

Of the 29 Knight Arts Challenge grantees announced October 4, 2017, five have roots in the Zone: three established arts organizations, one brand-new one, and one independent artist. The five local winners are:

  • Painter Erik Pearson will call attention to the Creative Enterprise Zone through a wayfinding mural spanning the east wall of the WestRock paper recycling plant.
  • With its 55+ Film School, FilmNorth (formerly IFP) will invite older adults to share their stories and wisdom through films created in a series of classes both at FilmNorth and at senior centers.
  • The St. Paul Lawn Art Fund, headed by CEZ board member Lucas Koski, will promote neighborhood art through one-to-one matching funds that help residents commission artists to create public art on their front lawns.
  • With Art and Arab America: The New Millennium, Mizna will showcase its 20 years through a retrospective exhibit, discussions, and guided tours at the Minnesota Museum of American Art.
  • TU Dance and Bon Iver's Justin Verson will collaborate on an evening of music and dance at St. Paul's newly renovated Palace Theater, part of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music series.

Congratulations to all of the grantees, and good luck with your matching fundraising!
