Handing down traditional Irish music to the next generation.

Business Description

The Center for Irish Music (CIM) is a thriving Irish music school in St. Paul’s Hamline-Midway neighborhood. The CIM is dedicated to handing down traditional Irish music to the next generation. Through private lessons, group classes, sessions and events featuring world-class artists, the CIM aims to inspire and support the traditional Irish music community in the Twin Cities and throughout the Midwest and Canada.

CIM is Minnesota’s leading gathering place for professional artists, dedicated students, and community volunteers who are passionate about traditional Irish arts. We invite you to join the CIM community by becoming a volunteer, a donor or fellow musician!

Private Lessons

CIM offers instrumental and singing classes for children, youth and adults taught by world-class teachers both privately and in a group setting. Annual summer camps are also available for youth.

Éigse CIM: A Gaela Event

Dress up in your finest, bring your friends and join us for Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event. Éigse [eg-shuh] is an Irish word used for festivals celebrating traditional Irish arts and culture. It is in this spirit that we gather for an evening to raise funds for The Center for Irish Music and the mission of handing down traditional Irish music. This semi-formal event includes delicious food, a culturally unique silent auction, and a concert featuring the stellar music of CIM instructors, who boast award-winning artists among their number.

Minnesota Irish Music Weekend (MIM)

Presented by the Center for Irish Music, Minnesota Irish Music Weekend is a unique festival that pairs world-class traditional Irish musicians and teachers with learners of all ages and abilities for a weekend of workshops, lectures, the Friday night Great Session Experience and a rare and virtuosic Saturday night concert featuring the visiting artists.
