Music video with a mission wins triple honors

Digital media production company Mr. People wrapped up 2018 by winning a third national award for a 2017 music video: country artist Maiden Dixie's "New Again." Commissioned by the Minnesota nonprofit Pain-Free Patriots, the song and video honor injured vets finding drug-free ways to heal. It won Mr. People a Silver Telly, an Award of Exceptional Merit from the Hollywood Now Film Festival, and now the Silver Davey crowns the achievement.

Based on Wycliff Street, Mr. People was founded in 2015 by Todd Obernolte. For "New Again," he was joined by longtime creative partner Pete McCauley. Here, Pete (left) and Todd celebrate their honors.

"We love the vibe of this neighborhood," said Todd. When the company outgrew its first space on North Prior, he wanted to stay in the Zone. "It's a central location for traveling to shoots in either Minneapolis or St Paul. And it gives us easy access to great resources like Creative Images Studio, the St. Paul Neighborhood Network, Film North, and DefHaus recording studio, just north of Larpenteur." Mr. People staffs its projects as a virtual agency, assembling flexible teams of people-- hence the name. That's another plus: "There are so many other great media production organizations. Whenever we need to reach out to other professionals we can, such as 12+ Media, Blue Moon Productions, and SCALES Advertising," among others.

Bonus: their studio is a block from the Urban Growler, where they often take clients for lunch or a pint. You might also see Todd or Pete at the Dubliner, Hodges Bend, BlackStack, Foxy Falafel, or Keys. If you do, lift your glass and say congrats!
